- ABOUT US -

PHILOSOPHY: Bayfair Daycare attempts to create and provide a stimulating environment so that it will meet the needs of each child in order for them to grow to the fullest capacity to which they are capable of achieving. We strive toward “inclusion” offering an integrated program for our Exceptional Children. We will strive to offer a program that is flexible to meet the developmental needs of the children with age appropriate curriculum and a curriculum sensitive to the capabilities of each child. The areas of development we will work to nurture are: intellectual, mental, physical, social, emotional and spiritual.

PROGRAMS OFFERED: We offer full and part-time programs for children as young as 15 months of age right up to their 13th Birthday. Full-time programs run Monday-Friday. Part-time programs may consist of a minimum 2 to 3 days/week to a maximum of five days/week and may or may not include lunches, depending on the needs of your child. Part-time children may attend the morning or afternoon programs. Enrollment of children in our part-time programs will depend on space availability within the classroom and be contingent upon coupling up with other part time children. We also offer a Junior and Senior Kindergarten program as an alternative to those programs offered through the School Boards. For children who are entering Grade 1 and until the day before they turn 13 years of age, we offer a before and or after school program and full day care during Professional Activity Days and School holidays.

We also offer a full Summer Vacation Bible School Program that includes our School Age children. Our Summer Program plans typically become available in late May and feature an exciting theme with many field trips, water fun activities, children’s entertainers and fun activities throughout the day

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT: Each of the classes at the Daycare have program plans developed weekly by Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECE’s) which feature a “Theme of the Week” and include activities in the following areas: Christian oriented experiences, Concept of the day, Circle Plan, Discovery Table, Arts and Crafts, Painting, Learning Language and Reading Readiness Skills, Math Related Concepts, Multicultural Experiences, Dramatic Play, Sensory Experiences and Other Activities. Each week the RECE’s will also plan a day centered around a Bible Theme. These Program Plans will take into account the age group of the children and include several areas of learning. All Program Plans are posted outside your child’s classroom. Special “Fun-Filled” Programs for March Break, Summer Holidays (July & August) and Christmas Holidays are developed jointly by our RECE’s, Assistant Supervisor and Supervisor. These are made available to families

QUALITY CHILDCARE: Our teaching staff consists of fully Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECE’s) along with Assistant Staff and Program Assistants who assist in classrooms with children who need extra redirection. Our ratios are much lower than area schools for the Junior and Senior Kindergarten programs.
Our ratios are as follows:
- Toddler Program 5:1
- Junior Program 8:1
- Preschool Program 8:1
- Junior Kindergarten 10:1
- Senior Kindergarten 12:1
- School Age Program 15:1

NUTRITION: A nutritious mid-day meal and morning/afternoon snacks are provided. Children’s special dietary needs and allergies will be posted in the cooking and serving areas in the classrooms. Any special dietary needs must be noted on a separate form and signed by the parents to have in the children’s file. Menu plans are posted on the bulletin board in the main hall and upstairs in the toddler area to help you in menu planning at home. Our weekly menu is created by our resident Cook who lovingly prepares your child’s snacks and lunches on premises in conjunction with the office staff. During the Fall and Winter months we feature hot meals; when the weather warms up, we change our menu to fun, light foods such as wraps, tacos, pasta salads and the occasional BBQ. Although we strive to meet individual dietary requirements, in some cases, you may need to supplement our menu with substitutions in the event your child has a food allergy or food preference.
